Human Rights Day commemorates the December 10th proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Through this Declaration, the United Nations aimed to promote “universal respect for and observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms.”
Yet, in the seven decades since this proclamation, human rights and fundamental freedoms are far from universally respected. Most importantly for those of us in the imperial core, they are not respected by the United States or its insatiable military-industrial complex.
In Palestine, the U.S. continues to put its own interests and greed before human rights and lives. The U.S. government provides political and diplomatic cover for Israel’s genocide while further fueling it with billions of dollars in aid. War profiteers have posted record high revenues since October 7, 2023. Israel’s continued bombing of Gaza - despite the supposed ceasefire - promises to bring them even greater riches.
In Venezuela, the U.S. military continues its reckless escalation by pouring troops and ships into the Caribbean. These actions, as well as the murder of countless innocent people in illegal U.S. missile strikes, are a clear attempt to destabilize the Maduro government. The U.S. has no problem placing its lust for another country’s oil and natural resources over the rights and freedoms of the Venezuelan people.
The Anti-War Action Network calls on its affiliated organizations to hold an action between December 5th and 14th in honor of Human Rights Day. The U.S. and the Western-led international order have failed to live up to the promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is incumbent upon all those who truly value human rights to hold rallies, lead marches, stage protests, and take other political action.
We will not rest until the human rights and fundamental freedoms of oppressed people everywhere are finally respected!

The Anti-War Action Network welcomes Husam Marajda for a webinar on what the latest ceasefire agreement means for the Palestine solidarity movement. He will be joined by activists with the Anti War Action Network: Lina Jebara (MN Anti War Committee), Sam Charnon (Milwaukee Anti War Committee) and Izzy McCabe (Seattle Against War).
The Trump Administration is threatening President Maduro and the Venezuelan government with war and violent removal. Trump and Wall Street want Venezuela’s oil and gold. The rulers of the U.S. Empire are angry that Venezuela is an independent country with a government that serves its people.
President Maduro is a former bus driver and union president who has overcome U.S. economic sanctions, a drone attack, a coup attempt, and other dirty tricks. With President Maduro’s leadership advancing the Bolivarian Revolution, every U.S. intervention has broken on the rocks of Venezuela’s shore.
Since September the U.S. has used missile strikes on four boats off the coast of Venezuela, killing 21 people. Trump claims these are drug traffickers with no evidence and is instead murdering fisherpeople. The US is now threatening missile attacks on government targets.
With US Navy ships and thousands of Marines off the coast of Venezuela, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also threatening to attack and invade. At the same time, the United States continues to send blank checks to Israel to continue its genocide of the Palestinian people, resulting in over 66,000 Palestinians murdered and 156,000 injured.
In the event of another attack on Venezuela by the United States, the Anti-War Action Network calls on our supporters to organize demonstrations in solidarity with Venezuela within 48 hours. Whether that is holding a street corner sign holding, a Federal Building rally, or a banner drop, make it clear: we do not want tax dollars spent on more missiles or coups.
We can organize to stop the illegal acts of Trump and Rubio and prevent another US war before it starts. We can stand against the lies and distortions of Trump and Rubio and show solidarity with the Venezuelan people. The only people that benefit from this are the weapons manufacturers and big oil execs. The US empire hates that Venezuela is independent, democratic, and building a new economy that works for all its people, not just the rich.
We want friendship and solidarity with the Venezuelan people, not hate and war! The only people that should be in charge of Venezuela's future are the Venezuelans themselves.
US Hands Off Venezuela! End Trump’s Attacks on President Maduro and Venezuela!
Week of October 20, 2025
The Anti-War Action Network has been protesting at war profiteers like Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Howmet Aeronautics, Palantir, General Dynamics and Bae Systems across the country.
This month marks the second anniversary of Israel’s brutal genocide of Gaza. More than 64,000 Palestinians have been killed. Even data from the Israeli Defense Force suggests that more than 80% of those killed are civilians.
Also this month, the Sumud Flotilla sent critical aid to Gaza while being threatened by Israeli drones. Israeli aggression was so severe that multiple countries were forced to send ships to protect this civilian relief mission.
These companies and others like them make Israel’s genocide possible. They build the bombs that have leveled Gaza. They create the bullets that are shot into children’s heads. They arm the drones that intimidate anyone who would dare to save Palestinian lives. And they profit from the ceaseless bombing of schools, homes, and hospitals.
In cities across the United States, murder is being manufactured in front of our very eyes.
The Anti-War Action Network calls on its supporters to organize action against these weapons manufacturers who are enabling genocide. This includes demonstrations, banner drops, flyering, and other actions that bring the public’s attention to the crimes being committed in our own backyards. Let them know that we will not stand idly by while they grow rich from destruction. Those who make war should not know peace.

AWAN calls on all anti-war, anti-imperialist organizations around the country for a week of action from September 22-26th. During this year's UN General Assembly High-level Week, Palestine will take center stage due to the genocide and starvation in Gaza. A free Palestine will be the main focus both inside the UN, outside on the streets, and at protests across the country! That week Netanyahu will come to the US to try to justify his efforts to steal Gaza and the ongoing genocide. There will be protests in NYC, but we need protests across the country to demand that we hold war criminals accountable!
Arrest Netanyahu!
End aid to Israel!
End the siege of Gaza!
-----------------------------------
We held actions to protest Netanyahu's speech at the UN in Milwaukee, Detroit, Tucson, Saint Paul, Portland, Green Bay, Jacksonville and sent a contingent to NYC to protest outside the United Nations.
Defending the Anti-War Movement’s Right to Organize!

Emergency Call for Action
August 16th, the IOF declared it would begin forcibly displacing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians towards southern Gaza the next day, and advanced toward Gaza City in the north. People on the ground are now sounding the alarms that a ground invasion of Gaza City has begun, but the systematic killing of journalists has led to a blackout of conventional media. Gaza City is the last major population center in the Gaza Strip with any form of infrastructure, and a ground invasion into Gaza City means the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands who are already reeling from the genocidal forced starvation that has been imposed by the siege on Gaza. The bombs landing on Gaza City to pave the way for this ground invasion are US-made and US-paid.
The time to stand up is now or never! We have to act immediately!
The Anti-War Action Network calls on all fighting anti-war organizations to take to the streets protest against the IOF plans to occupy Gaza City on August 18-19th to meet the urgency of this moment.
Hands off Gaza City!
Stop the Ground Invasion!
End US Aid to Israel!
National Day of Action to Break Siege in Gaza
Open Rafah Crossing
Abolish the (US-Run) GHF Mercenary Front
Money for human needs NOT war
The situation in Gaza has increasingly placed the intentional starvation of Palestinians that is being coordinated by the US and Israel at the forefront of the daily lives of the people. All aid from third parties has been completely cut off from Gaza since March 2nd, marking a clear qualitative escalation in the genocide. Even more disgracefully, the US and Israel have colluded to use this famine as a way to advance their military operations in Gaza by way of the US-run Gaza “Humanitarian” Foundation, a mercenary front which has used aid centers as a pretext to concentrate Palestinians in confined spaces in order to open fire on them. As of 7/7, 743 have been killed, nearly 5,000 injured while attempting to receive aid at GHF sites since they began operation on May 26th.
It is the obligation of all who oppose war and genocide, who desire to see Palestinians fed, that we take direct political action against this injustice. We call on all people of conscience to hold actions on the day of August 10th and surrounding week in order to demand that the US & Israeli governments:
1. Immediately open Rafah crossing for food aid to the people of Gaza
2. Cease all operations with the US-run and US government-funded Gaza “Humanitarian” Foundation
3. End aid to Israel
What’s the connection between LGBTQ rights in the US and the liberation of Palestine? Join us for a national panel detailing the ways the US and Israel appeal to LGBTQ rights as justification for occupation and genocide. Learn why it’s more important than ever to stand against imperialism and with the people of Palestine!

Palestinian Prisoners’ Day is commemorated every year on April 17 – a date approved by the Palestinian National Council in 1974 as a national day dedicated to the freedom of prisoners and support for their rights.
According to Addameer, Israel has over 9,500 Palestinian political prisoners. 3,405 prisoners are in administrative detention and 350 of them are children.
Here in the U.S., President Trump ordered ICE to detain Palestinian activist Mamoud Khalil. Khalil is a Columbia University student who led protests against the U.S./Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. With no legal due process, Khalil is now a political prisoner held in an ICE prison in rural Louisiana.
The Anti War Action Network calls on our supporters to organize actions to mark Palestinian Political Prisoners Day. Your action could be a protest, bannering, teach-in, etc. We just want there to be more attention drawn to the reality of how many Palestinians are being held by Israel - especially since the media has been focused on Israelis being held for over a year and a half.
Free Mahmoud Khalil!
Protesting for Palestine is NOT a crime!
No Aid to Israel!
Release All Palestinian Prisoners!
